Data Scientist
Position Overview
Join the Digital Brain team to drive data-driven insights and develop intelligent solutions that transform mobility and AI applications in Malta. You will turn complex datasets into actionable intelligence and predictive models to solve real-world transportation challenges.
Key Responsibilities

Analyze large datasets from traffic, parking, and mobility systems to extract meaningful insights

Develop and implement machine learning models for predictive analytics and pattern recognition

Build data pipelines and automated workflows for real-time data processing

Design statistical models to optimize traffic flow and parking allocation algorithms

Collaborate with AI engineers and developers to integrate models into production systems

Design and conduct A/B tests to validate model performance and business impact
-
Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders
-
Research and apply cutting-edge AI/ML techniques for smart city applications

Work with clients to understand business requirements and translate them into data science solutions
Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in data science or related analytical roles

Strong proficiency in Python and libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn

Experience with machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning)

Solid understanding of statistics, probability, and experimental design

Proficiency in SQL and database querying for data extraction and analysis

Knowledge of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation

Strong skills in data visualization

Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Effective communication skills to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field

Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)

Knowledge of time series analysis and forecasting

Experience with geospatial data analysis and GIS tools

Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines

Understanding of traffic engineering, urban planning, or transportation systems

Experience with IoT sensor data and real-time streaming analytics

Knowledge of computer vision techniques for traffic and mobility applications
