Reports To: Head of After Sales/ After sales Coordinator

Role Purpose

The Technician is responsible for delivering maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, commissioning support, and installation works across assigned systems and client sites. This role requires a fully capable field technician who can take ownership of technical delivery, resolve standard and moderately complex faults, support customer satisfaction, identify commercial opportunities, and contribute to overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, installation works, testing, and commissioning support on assigned systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose technical faults independently and implement corrective actions within approved scope.
  • Escalate complex or specialist issues appropriately while providing clear technical feedback and proposed next steps.
  • Take the lead on assigned service jobs, installation works, and corrective tasks, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard.
  • Coordinate site activities within assigned jobs, including labour deployment, sequencing of works, snagging, and completion follow-up.
  • Identify root causes of breakdowns or recurring issues and recommend remedial actions, spare parts, upgrades, or service improvements.
  • Record all service activities properly, including job reports, technical notes, photographs, material usage, and recommendations for follow-up works.
  • Communicate professionally with clients on site, explaining findings, work carried out, limitations, and any additional requirements.
  • Support junior team members and technical assistants through practical guidance and by promoting productive and safe working methods.
  • Ensure company vehicle, tools, laptop, mobile phone, testing equipment, and materials are used and maintained to company standard.
  • Contribute to sales and margin improvement by identifying additional works, upgrade opportunities, and inefficiencies that can be improved.
  • Minimise rework, unnecessary call-backs, and wasted labour through good planning, preparation, and quality execution.
  • Comply fully with company policies, health and safety procedures, and site-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, controls, or a related engineering trade.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant hands-on field experience in maintenance, service, repairs, or installations.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve faults independently.
  • Good understanding of technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • Experience with reporting, service documentation, and material feedback.
  • Ability to manage works on site with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Maltese is an asset.
  • Good computer literacy for service reports, emails, and technical documentation.
  • Valid driving licence required.
  • Willingness to work on different sites and support urgent reactive works when required.
  • Health and safety awareness with a responsible attitude toward safe systems of work.

Preferred

  • Experience in HVAC, M&E, industrial systems, pumps, compressors, or building services.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and handover processes.
  • Ability to identify commercial opportunities during technical visits.
